About Us
Welcome to WayCross Farm! We are a small farm that has a variety of unique/heritage farm breeds including
Cochin Chickens
We have proudly bred AKC American Cocker Spaniels for over 30 years, and have added Cockapoos to our program several years ago.
There have been many changes in both society and at WayCross Farm in the last few years but our commitment to our breeds, our Faith in God and our promise to our customers is stronger than ever.
Please take a look at our Past, our Present and our Future
Our Past
WayCross became known as WayCross Farm because of a nondescript brown quarter horse colt named WayCross Bert. Bert lived his life with Diane, being ridden and loved for over 30 years. He was one of the best creatures to ever walk on 4 legs. This Oklahoma Star, Bert bred quarter horse was true to his lineage. His coarse head and a body to die for concealed a heart of gold. It was always easy to find them in the arena either roping, running barrels or poles. Because of the love and dedication of this amazing horse, Diane changed the name of the farm to honor this once in a lifetime horse.
Always sitting on the sideline of the arena was Diane's "Cloud of Cockers" as they became known. These wonderfully loyal, always happy, tail wagging dogs are a lifetime love affair at WayCross. One line in particular has been unbroken and is from the original cocker Diane had when she was 12 years old, over 40 years ago.
Our Present
We have grown by leaps and bounds for some truly happy reasons, and one very sad reason.
On the sad note, Diane lost a very dear friend and fellow American Cocker Spaniel breeder, Jean Arendt in 2020. Jean, founder of Fossil Ridge Kennels, asked Diane and others, to provide for her beloved American Cocker Spaniels. Jean asked, and WayCross answered fulfilling her final cocker wish. This brought the addition of many wonderful dogs to our lives and breeding plans. With the expansion of our kennel and the addition of new employees to help in the care, love and enrichment of these amazing dogs.
We did take a small break from breeding our wonderful horses, but we wanted everything to be just right for the next phase in the big barn. We have beautifully seeded pastures, large open stalls and crystal clear stock tanks to keep the big guys happy and healthy. 2021 will see our first WayCross multigenerational foals on the ground. Gypsy, Drum and Clyde foals are on the way!
We have added Kune Kune pigs to our farm and will be expecting our first litters this year. Stay tuned for that excitement!
Future
As we look down the road, many plans are beginning to take root and move from the dreaming phase to the planning phase. We are working our way to sustainability in pork, beef, and poultry production on the small scale. Our horses are at an age where they are beginning their under saddle and driving training. As to the wonderful cocker and cockapoo program continues to thrive, we are looking to add both grooming and boarding in the near future to the public.
As Always, thank you for loving your WayCross fur babies, be they 4 hooved or pawed, and know that we are always hear for you.
